We discovered Martin one August night in “ghetto” Tøyen, Oslo. The guy was certainly intoxicated, yet still managed to express his confidence in his bass-playing skills. We needed a bass player, so naturally we were curious as to whether he was as talented in practice as in theory. We invited him to jam with us at a later rehearsal. To our astonishment, he showed up to the rehearsal accompanied by his yellow Fender bass guitar tucked under his arm. He blew us away…

We figured it’s only fair that we introduce him to you all now that he has become an official member of the band. As such, we have conducted a little interview with this musical savage from Karlstad, Sweden… Check it out!

- How did you end up in Norway?
I didn’t want to live in Karlstad anymore, and I thought Oslo seemed like a good alternative as well as a great place to expand my horizons.

- Your previous bands?
No Excuse
(1996-1997)
A lousy punk band...like everyones first band.
Positive Youth
(1997-1998)
Another lousy punk band.
Deadwyler
(1997-1998)
A brutal, hardcore band.
Man At Arms
(1998-2001)
Old-school hardcore.
The Sam Hill Orchestra
(1999-2000)
Making noise with some older kids.
Ben Dovers
(2000-2005)
Old, sweet, Rock'n'Roll. A band that still rejoins from time to time, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.
Papa Joe & The Legend
(2004-2005)
Reggae from the roots.
Deludo
(2006 - present)

- Do you have any other talents or interests besides bass playing?
Sure, I can play guitar. I have a sexy, cherry- red Telecaster at home. Those are my only musical qualities though. Besides collecting music and playing it, I can sit for hours playing an old military strategic computer game called, "Close Combat - The Russian Front". I also have a passion for good old Swedish Table Hockey.

- Any musical influences? Favorite band? Record? Etc.
Martin Svensson - DeludoI picked up a lot of the first songs I learned how to play from listening to Punk bands such as The Misfits and The Ramones. In my earlier days I listened to a lot of Punk records. Since then, I’ve been listening to all the greatest bands which define the history of Rock n’ Roll. Those bands which have had the most profound influence on me are: The Who, Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd, The Misfits and Kiss. My favorite record? Shit, that’s a tough question… It would probably be, “By Numbers” by The Who. But, you know, I also really love the early Floyd stuff; and I have to mention all the fabulous compositions by Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys. And last, but not least, I want to mention one more, if that’s okay? The Roads album, “Cognition”. It’s a blast to listen to! My favorite bass player is, without a doubt, John Entwhistle. And you may laugh as much as you want, but listen to Gene Simmons’ bass playing, and give it a thought. It’s fucking amazing.

- Your favourite place to be?
On the shores of Lake Vänern, the most beautiful shores in the whole world. There is a place I particularly love called Grytan, you gotta check it out if you’re ever in Karlstad.

- Your favourite word?
“Fan” ("The Devil" in Swedish). Used in a sentence such as, “Å Fan” (Oh, Fuck).

- What are your ambitions?
I wanna give music and the possibility of becoming a celebrity a fair chance while I’m still young.

- Where do you see yourself in five years?
In a state in which I don’t have to worry about money, in the arms of a women that I love, and on a tour with Deludo.

- What other profession, besides one in music, would you consider?
A historian. The farther back into time one can look, the better equipped one is to predict the future.

- If you had a million dollars, what would you buy first?
The coolest recording studio; and with the remaining money I would buy some more bass guitars.

- What is your element, and why?
Earth...because I'm so down to earth. :P
Martin Svensson - Deludo
- What is your opinion on the other Deludo guys?
Morten: funny. Ole: quiet. Eivind: strict.

- What are your negative sides?
It’s probably that I suck at receiving criticism; both good and bad.

- If you had a super power, what would it be?
Oh, that would be the ability to shoot deadly lasers from my eyes.
